The following pictures are what remain of the Hughes house in Prince Edward county, Virginia as of Spring of 2000.  This house was handed down through 3 generations, Simon Hughes, George Robert Hughes and finally William Edward Hughes.  It is believed to have been built in the early 1800's, possibly earlier.

The Hughes house from a distance.  The land is now owned by a logging company and the chimney can be seen from a distance.

Bernard Slayton and Mike Hughes in front Pattie Odelle Hughes and Joshua Leonard Slayton house April 2000.  Bernard passed away 08/23/2000. He will be missed very much by myself and others who knew and loved him.  As Bernard used to say to me after our talks on the phone "See ya bud!"
